Following a survey of 500 teens from lab42.com, most teens prefer text to phone calls. And more than 30% of the time online via smart phones is used on facebook.com. Another news came recently is that twitter got over 200 million twitts every day since Jun 30. And in China it is called weibo, which become the hottest platform where people share their thoughts anywhere when they find something interesting. Some people worry it will lower the time people meet each other and hurt the relationship as they choose to surf on the virtual Internet world.

First about the virtual world, we know it’s a negative word. Well, a worry was necessarily when the Internet is not mature enough for people to interact years ago. Without the third party to verify identity, people can hardly trust the guy on the other side. And when joining a chat, whether the guy is male or female all depended on guess.  For time being, facebook as well as twitter become one of the most real-time place with real name to share things. People never worry the guy who named “Mike Green” is a pig. And from what their friends saying, we can probably know what he is.

Once the site can be trust, the virtual Internet world looks more real. We also know that Google officially release the Google+, new social network with more features. And one of the advantage compare with others social network google claims is that the new one is more like the real social world with google circles. People can define different circles to share different things. Sounds awesome. So we can deduce that the Internet is on the way to a more real world where people can trust each other judged by the words or activity. Can we imagine a cleaner and convenient Internet?

A second question is pointed to whether it lower the time people meet and hurt the relationship. It’s true that people spend more time on the Internet. Respectively it takes less time to meet and communication face to face. However, people are more involved in the world with witness what happened everyday. Facebook is a phenomenon that joins people together, not only for political groups but also for the idea of being social. It is almost considered a taboo if you don’t have a Facebook account. It is also by no means just one of those ‘teen-things’, it is a phenomenon that hits everyone, even our parents.
