Top Ten Expensive Google Acquisitions

Google purchases Motorola Mobile with $125 Billion definitely shocks us. It’s not the game that big fish eating small fish, it’s giant + giant. We already dig the aim under the deal. And what I’m more interested right now is what google have done to consolidate the empire.
We know, Google+ grows rapidly, Android phones take most marketing shares right now. Is there any company disappear to contribute to google’s success? What weapon Google armed to make the eco-system so prosperous?

1. dMarc Broadcasting

Google purchased advertising company dMarc with $102 million to strengthen automatic advertising platform. Google integrated it into Adsense platform, creating a new radio ad distribution channel for Google advertisers.
2. On2 Technologies

Google acquired the video compression technology company On2 with $133 million in Google Stock to gain better video quality on its Web platform.
3. Slide
It seems it is evident that Google had an eye on Social games years ago when Google bought Slide with $182 million. It was definitely not the last move Google is making to make “Google products socially aware”. We know google+ now.
4. Admeld

In June, 2011, Google acquired Admeld with $4 billion, which focused on optimising advertising platform via simplifying ads displaying methods. Google integrated it with Doubleclick and Invite Media.
5. Postini
In July 2007, Google spent $6.25 billion to takeover network security and document-based company Postini to server Gmail with cloud computing and email filter functions.
6. ITA Software

To enforce and optimize the search of flight and travelling information, Google bought ITA Software with $7 billion on Nov, 2009.
7. AdMob

Another Ads company, which took Google $7.5 billion on Nov, 2009. Google’s major income is from advertising, this is the most important part for the search giant.
8. YouTube

On Oct. 2006, Google takeover Youtube, the most popular video sharing site with incredible large amount $16.5 billion to distribute ads on videos. But Youtube still keeps independent.
9. Double Click
Google acquired Doubleclick with huge $31 billion on April, it’s all about ads.
10. Motorola Mobile

Google claimed to acquire Motorola with $125 billion on Aug 15th, 2011. Nobody realise it and it just happened. It was expressed by technology experts that this acquisition is for future mobile ads market and patents to defend Android.
